Original Design

Flowers, in a garden, are a palette
of grace and color on a backdrop
of Earth, a compliment to its creator

from its base of green—soothing, calming
to each intricate design of a petal
an array of color to stir emotions

artists only copy from
    the original design
they embellish and retell from
    their point of view.
They are in awe of what began
and cannot help but capture the splendor
in paintings, in photographs, in stories,
they share the beauty they admire
but can barely duplicate

artists are merely the copyists
of the original design.
